Microsoft Lists Basics

Create the browser-based Microsoft List that acts as the single-table database.

Steps

  1. 1 Open https://office.com/launch/Lists in Safari or Edge.
  2. 2 Sign in with your school Microsoft account.
  3. 3 Choose New list, then Blank list.
  4. 4 Name it Task 3 Equipment Loans - Your Name.
  5. 5 Use the browser version on iPad because the Lists mobile apps have been retired.

Microsoft Lists mobile apps retirement

Use Microsoft Lists in the browser on iPad. The iOS and Android Lists mobile apps were retired in mid-November 2025.

 Create a list

Students create the database as a blank Microsoft List.

 Column types and options

Column types are used as the practical equivalent of database field data types.

 Create, change or delete a view

Saved list views are used as query and report outputs.

 Unique columns

LoanID is treated as the primary key equivalent using required unique values where available.
