System Analysis Project

You will analyse the Kingford Community Learning Hub case study and recommend a practical ICT upgrade. Your final submission must show that you can understand an existing system, draw a correct context diagram, justify upgrade choices and build a spreadsheet budget.

What To Submit

Submit these items through the LMS:

  1. Report document using the report template.
  2. Context diagram in Yourdon/DeMarco notation.
  3. Spreadsheet budget with formulas, chart and sorted data view.

What To Do

  1. Read the case study and identify the main problems with the current system.
  2. Complete the current system analysis in the report template.
  3. Draw one context diagram:
    • one central process
    • external entities outside the system
    • labelled data flows with correct arrow direction
  4. Recommend suitable hardware and software/SOE improvements.
  5. Build the spreadsheet budget with:
    • at least 8 line items
    • SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN and COUNTIF
    • one lookup function
    • one chart
    • one sorted table view
  6. Write short justifications that link your choices back to the case study.
  7. Check file names, spelling, formulas and screenshots before submitting.
